As CLSA comprehensive coordinator, Lorraine Moss is responsible for implementing and coordinating the activities of 11 Data Collection Sites across the country. Her job involves developing standard operating procedures and providing ongoing training and support to the local teams. An employee of McMaster for more than 20 years, Lorraine has coordinated research in the areas of pediatric nutrition and infectious disease. She has been involved in studies that focused on nursing-home-acquired pneumonia and vaccinating healthy Hutterite children to stop the spread of influenza.  Lorraine holds an Hon. B.Sc. in nutritional science from the University of Guelph.

Marie-Eve joined the CLSA team in July 2010. As Translations Coordinator, her role in the CLSA is to coordinate the translation process of all CLSA documents. She completed a B.Sc. in Microbiology and Immunology in 2007 and then pursued graduate studies in translation to become a medical translator. She has experience as a freelance translator for studies in epidemiology and in rheumatology.

Julianna is the primary contact for the Research Ethics Boards, 11 of which oversee the CLSA in a collaborative process. Julianna manages the annual ethics amendment submissions, and provides support to the Data Collection Sites in obtaining their annual ethics renewals. She is a primary lead in the ongoing development of the CLSA’s Quality Management System, and provides support in the development of CLSA procedures, training and documentation. She also fills the role of CLSA Documentalist, managing the organization and version control of all documents, including the CLSA standard operating procedures, guidance and training manuals, and participant materials.  Julianna holds a Hon. B.SocSci from McMaster University and a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Western Ontario.

Kimberley joined the CLSA team in December 2009. She brings with her eight years of research experience in an RCT setting coordinating multi-centre international studies. She specializes in data collection, case report form design, quality assurance and database management. Kimberley holds a certificate in Health Sciences, a Diploma in Business Administration and is currently working towards her Honours degree in Health, Aging and Society at McMaster University.

Dean is a software developer and systems integration specialist whose primary focus has been the configuration and testing of the many and varied data acquisition hardware of the CLSA. Dean completed his civil engineering doctoral studies at McMaster University in 2001.  His thesis work in the area of computational biomechanics focussed on constitutive modelling of human bone. The nature of the work led Dean to develop custom image processing and data visualization software utilizing several open source projects, including the Visualization Toolkit (VTK). Upon completion of his studies, Dean went on to work as an imaging research and software development consultant until his joining with the CLSA in July 2011.  He also is involved with the ongoing development of the Computer-Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI) software and participant relationship management (PRM) software, each custom designed for the CLSA.

Sean has been a System Administrator for the past eleven years on top of a previous seven years as a systems integrator, and self-employed consultant. Sean is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of servers and network infrastructure for the CLSA. A graduate of Fanshawe College, he is committed to continuing education and has completed courses on scripting, security, and project management.

Dwain is an IT specialist that is responsible for supporting, configuring and testing the CLSA's data collection and dissemination software.  He is also active in the evaluation and testing of the CLSA's evolving technology infrastructure.  He completed his degree in computer science at the Memorial University of Newfoundland and has several years of experience in information technology, specializing in quality assurance and software development.  He joined the CLSA team in July 2012.

Val provides technical support for the CLSA National Coordinating Centre (NCC) and the four Computer-Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI) centres across Canada. He is responsible for assisting with CLSA systems testing, database reporting, programming and other computing-related tasks. Val joined the CLSA in April 2010. He graduated from Mohawk College with a diploma in software engineering and completed his Bachelor of Technology at McMaster University.

Christina is a Developer that is responsible for supporting, configuring and testing the CLSA’s Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).The LabWare LIMS is used by the Biorepository and Bioanalysis Centre (BBC) to collect and maintain all the data associated with the biological samples collected over the course of the study. She has 6 years of experience working with LabWare LIMS. Christina started at the CLSA in December 2013. She holds a B.Sc. from the University of Waterloo.

Support Staff

The CLSA's support staff provides administrative support for the CLSA, managing documents, organizing participant information and ensuring efficient communication occurs with the CLSA and with key partners.

Roxanne Cheeseman has been with the CLSA since 2001. She is a research/administrative coordinator at McMaster University. With over 40 years experience as an administrator and 15 years in the research field, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role. As the main CLSA support, she fulfils a key role in ensuring timely, accurate and professional communication occurs within the CLSA and with all key partners. She is responsible for the Administrative team and for all agreements, contracts and other legal documents for the CLSA. Her team is responsible for all administrative aspects of the CLSA including finances.

Sharon Langs joined the CLSA in April 2010. As part of the administrative team, Sharon provides support in the day-to-day operations of the National Coordinating Centre (NCC), supports governance committees and maintains the various study questionnaires. In addition, Sharon coordinates the data and sample access application process.
