Dr. Susan Kirkland, co-principal investigator for the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA), has received the AGE-WELL’s Honorary Fellow Award, recognizing her long-term and substantial contributions to research and innovation in the AgeTech sector, as well as her significant contribution to AGE-WELL.
Dr. Susan Kirkland is professor and head of the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology within the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University. In addition to her role as project lead for several AGE-WELL projects, she is the research representative on AGE-WELL’s Board of Directors. Dr. Kirkland is also a member of CIHR’s Institute of Aging Advisory Board and a member of the Government of Canada’s Covid-19 Immunity Task Force Leadership Group.
Dr. Kirkland’s research lies in the areas of chronic diseases and aging; she is particularly interested in the investigation of the multifactorial determinants of health as they influence healthy aging. She also leads studies in physical activity and obesity, HIV and aging, frailty, and technologies to support aging in place.
