After her long and prolific career as a researcher in aging, Dr. Verena Menec, site principal investigator at the University of Manitoba, has retired.
Dr. Menec has been called as one of the most prolific and respected gerontology researchers in our country’s history with her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of older adults and our understanding of gerontological issues, such as social isolation and loneliness.
She was the director of the Centre on Aging at the University of Manitoba from 2004 until 2014, during which time she made significant contributions to the research on age-friendly communities.
Verena has been with the CLSA since its inception, and we would like to extend a huge thank you to her for her tremendous contributions to the study and wish her all the best in the next phase of her life.
