Project Summary

The present study seeks to examine: (1) how the combination of social isolation and loneliness (i.e., socially isolated but not lonely, lonely but not socially isolated, lonely and socially isolated, and neither lonely nor socially isolated) affects the memory of middle- and older-aged (45 to 85 years old) community-dwelling adults in Canada; and (2) whether this association differs after consideration of sociodemographic factors, health comorbidities, functional ability and lifestyle variables. This project will use data collected at three timepoints from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA).
