Research findings on what constitutes an age-friendly community for older adults will be explored in the next CLSA webinar on May 14, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Dr. Verena Menec will discuss her work in community-based programs of research, such as what constitutes an age-friendly community from the perspective of older adults, and what are the challenges for communities in becoming more age-friendly.

Dr. Menec is a professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba and holds a Canada Research Chair in Healthy Aging. Her main research interests lie in the areas of healthy aging, determinants of healthy aging, age-friendly communities, and health care utilization among older adults, particularly at the end of life.

The CLSA webinar series features regular, online lectures from new, mid-career, and established health researchers who are interested in aging. The webinars provide a forum to discuss the latest health and aging research in Canada. The webinars run for one hour, with an opportunity for audience questions at the end of the talk.
