The Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) achieved a milestone at the Montreal Data Collection Site this week when the site welcomed its  1,000th participant.

“It’s been a very exciting and busy year for us here in Montreal. Our dedicated and skilled interviewers and data collection staff have worked very hard  to achieve this milestone and I would like to thank all the participants who have graciously given of their time to participate in the CLSA,” said Christina Wolfson, co-principal investigator of the study and a researcher at the RI MUHC.The Montreal site, based at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI MUHC), will recruit and evaluate 3,000 participants by 2015.

Across Canada, the CLSA is recruiting 50,000 participants of which 30,000 will take part in comprehensive physical assessments. Participants who are invited to take part in this portion of the study first complete an at-home interview before visiting a CLSA data collection site. The visit involves the collection of a wide range of information including physical, psychological, social and lifestyle factors that impact health and well-being.

The CLSA operates 11 data collection site across Canada. The Montreal site held its official opening in fall 2012.
