Assessing the downstream effects of race-composite lung function equations on reclassification of Canadians living with chronic lung disease

Project Summary

This study aims to evaluate the impact of a new lung function reference equation (GLI Global 2022) which doesn’t require patients’ race or ethnicity information, on the diagnosis and severity assessment of COPD. We specifically investigate variations across different groups, defined by social determinants of health. The results will provide valuable insights into the potential effects of the new reference equation, which can guide discussions on its adoption and application.
