Project Summary

This study aims to: 1) examine and compare the frailty classification of the Centre of Excellence Self-Assessment (CESAM) index with three validated frailty indexes which are the Cardiovascular Health Study (CHS) frailty index, Study of Osteoporotic Fracture (SOF) index and Edmonton frailty (EF) index used as the reference index, in older participants of the Canadian Longitudinal Study of Aging (CLSA) using the (Tracking and Comprehensive) Baseline assessments; 2) examine the association of the CESAM index as well as the three frailty indexes — i.e., CHS, SOF and EF indexes — with incident adverse health events using the information collected during Follow-up 1, and 3) compare the criteria performances — i.e., sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV) area under receiver operating characteristic curve, positive and negative likelihood ratio (LR) — for incident adverse health events of the CESAM, CHS, SOF and EF indexes.
