Project Summary

Cardiometabolic multimorbidity (CM) (i.e. having at least two of stroke, heart disease, or diabetes) is an emerging worldwide health concern, but there remains little research on this particular form of multimorbidity. We propose to use data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study of Aging to develop a better understanding of the number of people with CM in Canada, as well as biological, psychological, and social factors of influence. The results of this research will help to identify individuals at high risk of CM, as well as provide evidence for the development and testing of novel and targeted prevention and management strategies.
