Project Summary

Data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study of Aging (CLSA) will be used to provide insights into social networks, social support availability, patterns of current caregiving and care receiving, and the capacity of caregivers to cope with the growing burden of dementia. With reference to the aims of the Nova Scotia dementia strategy, this research will provide evidence that can be used by NS DHW to inform strategies for supporting caregivers and helping people affected by dementia remain independent for as long as possible.. It is also the intent of this research to demonstrate the potential of the CLSA to inform policy-relevant issues such as this.
