Project Summary

It has been reported that engaging in educational and/or cultural activities may have benefits on health and, thus, could be used for health promotion and disease prevention in general and for the aging population. The Canadian Longitudinal Study of Aging (CLSA) is an observational prospective cohort study, which provides the opportunity to answer two key research questions about social and cultural engagement which are : 1) what are the social and health conditions of individuals engaged in educational and/or cultural activities, by using the CLSA Baseline assessment (i.e., Tracking and Comprehensive assessments), and 2) whether educational and/or cultural engagement may reduce the incidence of adverse health events in CLSA participants by using information collected during Follow-up 1.
