Project Summary

Our study aims to identify the factors influencing elderly adults’ decisions and their mobility back into the labour force through self-employment. We also assess what and how the existing labour force mechanisms -transnational network, prior professional experience, ethnicity-national culture perceptions, and public policies in place encourage, or discourage, older adults’ economic contributions to the labour force while being better integrated within their communities. In addition, we examine whether and how older adults’ self-employment influences their health status and well-being.
