Project Summary

The global COVID-19 pandemic led to a substantial increase in the number of deaths in Canada, and is expected to be shown to have had a negative impact on the health and well-being of Canadians. The objective of this study is to assess how the overall health and well-being of middle-aged and older Canadians with lower levels of education or income, those with more health problems, those who had some challenges accessing healthcare or those residing in more disadvantaged neighbourhoods were affected by the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will also examine the differences in the effects of the pandemic on health and well-being across communities. To address these research questions, we will use various advanced statistical techniques for data collected across different geographic areas.
