Project Summary

Canada has the highest proportion of immigrants among G8 countries. With immigration being a vital source of Canada’s population growth and economic development, understanding immigrants’ integration challenges is essential. Successful integration requires meeting various aspects of immigrants’ needs- including those related to their economic, social, physical, and psychological well-being. Current research often examines these domains separately. While extensive literature exists on immigrants’ economic integration, less explores other well-being aspects, social dynamics, and psychological health. Moreover, most existing research is cross-sectional, offering only snapshots of immigrants’ lives. We propose a longitudinal study to explore the impact of employment experiences on immigrants’ well-being over time, analyzing life course trajectories and identifying mechanisms influencing well-being throughout their life.
