Predictors of healthcare resource utilization among Canadian women with breast and gynecologic malignancies

Project Summary

Cancer of the female genital tract affect 1 in 5 women and breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women in Canada. The diagnosis of such a cancer can be very stressful for women and their families. Some patients require more health resources, which are not always easy to obtain or appropriately used. Our team is interested in understanding how aging, as well as different socio-demographic and health factors affect women with cancer of female organs. This study will use CLSA data to find which psychological, physical, and social factors are associated with use of healthcare resources and cancer screening. Our goal is to improve the lives of women living with cancer by better understanding their community and healthcare needs. The findings of this study will help with future healthcare resource planning for of our aging population.
