Project Summary
Chronic kidney disease affects one in ten Canadians, and rates are continuing to increase in Canada and around the world. Prior research has suggested that cognitive impairment is more common in people with chronic kidney disease than in the general population, and becomes increasingly more severe as kidney disease progresses. The goal of this study is to investigate the relationship between stage of kidney disease and cognitive function, and to explore whether physical activity can slow the decline in cognitive function that is commonly seen as kidney disease progresses. Results from this study have the potential to directly inform and support the development of exercise or physical activity interventions to help slow cognitive decline in people with chronic kidney disease.
