Project Summary

This project will examine whether marital status (i.e., married/common law versus single/divorced/widowed) changes the association between functional social support and memory in middle- and older-aged (45 to 85 years old), community-dwelling adults in Canada. The project will also investigate whether these findings differ after consideration of sociodemographic factors, health comorbidities, functional ability and lifestyle factors. This project will use data collected at two timepoints, spread three years apart, from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA).
