Project Summary

Heart disease affects more than two million women and men in Canada, and it is expressed differently in women than men. Predicting who is at high risk for cardiovascular disease is critical to improving prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. However, given current knowledge and the differences between women and men, women often receive an inaccurate diagnosis or follow inappropriate treatments. We will apply and evaluate artificial intelligence methods to several large cohorts with detailed data (genetic, clinical and others) to build gender-specific predictive models. These efforts will allow us to further knowledge and improve the cardiovascular health of Canadians in general, and women in particular.
