Project Summary
As the older population of Canada continues to grow, the number of people living with dementia is projected to rise. While the impacts of lifestyle and health status on dementia are largely known, the influence of modifiable environmental exposures is incomplete. The aim of this study is to evaluate the association between residential green space exposure with dementia and cognitive function among Canadian adults in the CLSA. It will also explore potential underlying pathways linking green space exposure to health outcomes, such as increased physical activity and social cohesion and reduced stress and air pollution levels. Results from this project will help advance initiatives to support healthy aging and the creation of ‘age-friendly’ urban environments.
