Project Summary
In this study, we will use data from the only national-level longitudinal study on aging to estimate rates of work-related injuries among workers 45+ years across Canada and by province; create a provincial profile of work-related injuries; and determine demographic, socio-economic, and health-related factors that are associated with work-related injuries among this population. In addition, we will compare the rates and profile of work-related injuries among middle-aged and older workers in Newfoundland and Labrador to those in other provinces. Given the aging workforce in Canada, it is important for employers that have a mandate for safe and healthy work to better understand the frequency and outcomes of work-related injuries among middle-aged and older workers. Our proposed study will provide this much needed information on rates of work-related injuries experienced by middle-aged and older workers in Newfoundland and Labrador as well as across Canada.
