Hélène Payette, theme leader of the lifestyles component of Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA), is the recipient of the Betty Havens Award in Longitudinal Research.

The award was presented to Dr. Payette for her work as a lead investigator of the Quebec longitudinal study on nutrition as a determinant of successful aging (NuAge). She is a professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Universitè de Sherbrooke, a researcher at the CSSS-IUGS Research Centre on Aging and the lead site investigator of the CLSA in Sherbrooke.

Dr. Payette accepted the award on behalf of her fellow NuAge investigators and team, who are also co-investigators for the CLSA: Pierette Gaudreau (Université de Montréal), Katherine Gray-Donald (McGill University), José A. Morais (McGill University) and Bryna Shatenstein (Université de Montréal).

The Betty Havens Award in Longitudinal Research is annually awarded to a scientist or student for their excellence in longitudinal research on aging.
