CLSA at CAG2014

The Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) will be the focus of a special event at the 43rd annual Scientific and Education Meeting of the Canadian Association on Gerontology (CAG2014), which runs from October 16-18, 2014, in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

The event, “Towards the implementation of the CIHR Institute of Aging’s Yearly Action Plan: 2014-15 – Mining a unique Canadian resource – The Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging” will take place at 11:15 a.m. on October 17, 2014 at the Sheraton Niagara Falls, Fallsview Studio A.

Numerous CLSA investigators will present on the baseline telephone interview data, which is now available for access by the research community. Presentations will focus on the following topic areas:

  • CLSA update and introduction to the telephone interview data (Susan Kirkland, CLSA co-principal investigator, Dalhousie University)
  • Health, functional status, activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) (Verena Menec, CLSA lead site investigator, University of Manitoba)
  • Social support and social participation (Andrew Wister, CLSA lead site investigator, Simon Fraser University)
  • Labour force and retirement (Lauren Griffith, CLSA associate scientific director, McMaster University)
  • How to access the data and timelines for future releases (Susan Kirkland, CLSA co-principal investigator, Dalhousie University)
