Wednesday, November 18, 2015

Dr. Paul Loprinzi, an assistant professor of health and exercise science at the University of Mississippi, will share some of his recent research on middle-aged and older adults with chronic diseases. He will discuss the psycho-behavioural factors that influence physical activity in this population, and look more specifically at the effects of physical activity on cardiovascular disease risk factors.

The webinar is on December 9 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. (EST), and all are welcome to register to attend. Click here to register.

Dr. Loprinzi’s background is in exercise science and behavioural epidemiology, and he holds a PhD in exercise and sports science from Oregon State University. His research interests include using the behavioural epidemiological framework to promote health-enhancing behaviours across the lifespan. He is also director of research engagement of the Jackson Heart Study Vanguard Center of Oxford. The study is the largest single-site, prospective epidemiologic investigation of cardiovascular disease among African Americans ever undertaken.

The CLSA Webinar series features regular, online lectures from new, mid-career and established health researchers who are interested in aging. The webinars provide a forum to discuss the latest health and aging research. The webinars run for one hour, with opportunity for audience questions at the end of the talk.

Information on how to use the Blackboard Collaborate software that is used to broadcast the webinars is available here, and will also be sent in the confirmation email to those who register.
