Montreal data collection site welcomes participant

Canada’s largest study on aging has launched at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre.In late February, the first group of 19 participants visited the Montreal-based data collection site for a pilot study. The purpose of the pilot was to assess and validate the instruments and procedures at the site. The pilot was conducted with French-speaking participants as a follow-up to the English-language pilot study conducted at the McMaster University data collection site in December.

National aging study moves to MIP

Canada’s largest and most comprehensive study of aging has opened its national headquarters at the McMaster Innovation Park in Hamilton, Ont.The Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) is a long-term research project examining the factors that shape healthy aging. The national study will follow 50,000 men and women aged 45 to 85 for 20 years. The CLSA collects information on the changing biological, medical, psychological, social, lifestyle and economic aspects of people’s lives as they age.

VitalAire Canada visits the CLSA

In February, The Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging welcomed the VitalAire Canada team for a presentation and tour of the CLSA facilities at McMaster Innovation Park in Hamilton. VitalAire Canada, a member of the Air Liquide group of health-care companies, is an important partner of the CLSA.

Manitobans invited to help solve mystery of aging

Manitoba residents are being invited to participate in the largest study of aging ever undertaken in Canada. The Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) will follow at least 50,000 Canadians between the ages of 45 and 85 for 20 years. The national study will collect information on the changing biological, medical, psychological, social, lifestyle and economic aspects of people’s lives as they age.

CBC News: Aging study seeks help of 1000s

CBC News | Jan 5, 2012   Close to 5,000 Prince Edward Islanders have been asked to take part in a 20-year study on aging in Canada as part of a goal to get 50,000 Canadians to participate. The Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging plans to look at the quality of life and health of Canadians aged 45 to 85 over a period of at least 20 years.
