Wednesday, January 27, 2016

The next presentation in the CLSA Webinar Series on February 23 will feature a researcher who studies the relationship between aging populations and the burden of cancer.

Dr. Ajay Aggarwal is a Clinical Oncologist and visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Cancer Policy at King’s College London, U.K. He is currently undertaking an NIHR Doctoral Research Fellowship at The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where he is investigating the impact of provider choice on outcomes for men with prostate cancer. He is also the Oncology coordinator for The National Prostate Cancer Audit based at The Royal College of Surgeons of England. His current research interests include cancer economics and the development of strategies for the delivery of affordable cancer care in high- and low-middle-income countries.

The webinar is scheduled for February 23 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. ET. All are welcome to attend. To register for the session, click here.

Dr. Aggarwal's presentation will explore the relationship between aging and the burden of cancer by using Mexico as a case study. Mexico typifies the socioeconomic, epidemiological and demographic changes experienced by other middle-income countries. Dr. Aggarwal and his team examined population data, cancer databases and the research output of Mexican institutions to produce predictions and recommendations.

The CLSA Webinar series features regular, online lectures from new, mid-career and established health researchers who are interested in aging. The webinars provide a forum to discuss the latest health and aging research. The webinars run for one hour, with an opportunity for audience questions at the end of the talk.
