Insights from a life course approach using a maturing British birth cohort study

Friday, January 8, 2016

The 2016 CLSA webinar series launches on January 21 with an internationally renowned expert recognized for creating and advancing the field of life course epidemiology.

Professor Diana Kuh is the director of the Medical Research Council (MRC) Unit for Lifelong Health and Ageing at University College London and director of the MRC National Survey of Health and Development (NSHD). NSHD is the oldest of the British birth cohort studies that has followed more than 5,000 individuals since their birth in March 1946. Under her leadership, the study has developed into an integrated and interdisciplinary life course study of aging.

The webinar is scheduled for January 21 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. ET. All are welcome to attend. To register for the session, click here.

Dr. Kuh's presentation will provide brief overview of the field of life course epidemiology, drawing on evidence from the oldest British birth cohort – now approaching its seventieth birthday – and from cross cohort comparisons; and discuss some of the future challenges that remain for those interested in healthy aging and in reducing social inequalities in lifelong health.

The CLSA webinar series features regular, online lectures from new, mid-career, and established health researchers who are interested in aging. The webinars provide a forum to discuss the latest health and aging research. Each webinar runs for one hour, with an opportunity for audience questions at the end of the talk.
